Prince George, B.C. - The ice jam on the Nechako  River in Prince George  which was about five kilometers long Wednesday afternoon when it reached the John Hart Bridge, has now backed up to Pozer Road, another half-kilometre away from the confluence of the Nechako River and Fraser River. However, no rise in river levels has been observed in the Pozer Road area.
The water level has risen about three centimeters in the McAloney Road area, prompting one business to evacuate its premises. Ice levels have risen minimally along River Road and Pulp Mill Road. 13 homes  have been ordered  evacuated along Pulp Mill Road and River Road.
No further evacuation alerts or evacuation orders have been issued by the City of Prince George since Tuesday evening, and no more roads have been closed. The state of local emergency declared late Monday remains in effect for low-lying areas on the Nechako River from the confluence of the two rivers to City limits.
Evacuation alerts are issued to notify residents of the potential for loss of life from unstable river conditions. Those who have been issued with an evacuation order have been offered assistance if transportation from the area is required.  A Reception Centre has been set up at the Prince George Civic Centre for those issued evacuation orders.
