School District #91 will use $108,000 from the provincial government to purchase a new 48-passenger clean energy school bus.

The district is planning on using the new bus in Vanderhoof, although it could be deployed anywhere in the district's catchment area.

The cleaner burning new diesel buses will reduce exhaust particulate emissions by 90 per cent compared to the previous 1994 standard.

All existing diesel buses are also being retrofitted with new clean diesel technology as part of an aggressive strategy to improve air quality for students
and the communities they live in.

Good, has to start somewhere. Too bad the extra maintainace and higher quality diesel fuel required will create more polution that is saved. And when the high tech bus breaks down in six months, there is always the family cars for back up.
