Province Will Provide Compensation To Flood Victims

Crews start unloading gabion dikes on the north side of the Nechako River.
Public Safety and Solicitor General John Les, has just announced that the province is assisting the City of Prince George with their flooding problems by providing a large number of Gabian Dikes to prevent flooding.
Les said in and interview with Opinion250 that he is very aware of the flooding that it going on in this city but "As in every case the city takes the lead , but we will do everything we can to assist them. While we haven’t to this point received anymore requests" Les said," we are there for them as soon as they need us " , and the Gabian Dikes are an example.
Asked about compensation John Les said, “There clearly is going to be a case for compensation, we will move into that mode, but not until we make it past the emergency that we now face."
" I am following the situation every day ", said Les "and our staff have been offered up for any assistance we may be able to offer."
The city has begun installing 3 kilometers of Gabian dikes along River Rd and the Pulp Mill Rd . In the case of River Rd they are trying to prevent the river from cutting a new course along River Rd.
In addition the city has built a snow dike around the water pumping station near the Cameron St Bridge to try and prevent river water from entering the system.
At the same time the City has announced that the ice Jam is now 6 Kilometers long.
