No Grounds For PlayGround Destructo Talk

Stories suggesting School District 57 was going to go on a playground destruction mission have no foundation. Those are the words of Trustee Fred McLeod.
He told the School District 57 Board initially they had been looking at removing playgrounds from schools that had been closed, in an effort to minimize liability. Since then, the look has expanded somewhat to reexamine several playgrounds which may need major upgrades, for instance, absorbent gravel that is supposed to n reduce the impact of a fall, is no longer at the proper grades. He says there are some other playgrounds that were built in the days when little of the equipment was CSA approved.
McLeod says they will be taking a closer look now, and will have a final report for the October 25th meeting. According to McLeod this will be a long process, as the prime objective is to minimize risk, and upgrade that which can be upgraded
