Quesnel RCMP used a Tazer to subdue a man they say assaulted a police officer at the scene of a motor vehicle accident at around 2:43 Sunday morning.

Police had gone to the scene of an accident on highway 97, Dragon Lake Hill; a Ford Focus sedan had rolled into the ditch.

Police say that they were attempting to deal with the female passenger in the vehicle when the driver, a 22 year old male, became belligerent and was arrested for obstruction. As he was being led away from the scene he struck a police officer in the face with his hand knocking the officer to the ground. A second officer on the scene then pulled his tazer and fired it after fearing for the safety of his fellow officer.

The driver in question was removed from the scene by a third officer and it is alleged he became involved in another altercation at the police station before being booked into the cells.

He has been charged with refusing to give a breath test, obstruction, assaulting a peace officer, driving while impaired, impairment causing injury, and assault causing bodily harm.

He was released yesterday afternoon in Quesnel.

The officer in question suffered injuries to his eye and nose, both the driver and the passenger were taken by ambulance to G.R. Baker Memorial hospital.

The officer was treated and released at hospital. According to police he will not be able to work for an undetermined period of time due to the eye injury.

someone is in a lttle bit of trouble.
He should be.....
should never be allowed out of jail again.....
I keep telling people that we need to tripple the number of jail cells in this country and no one believes me. It will be an economic benefit to the Canadian economy like we have not seen since the post second world war boom.

Salvation is here for our MPB and high loonie problems!!!!!!
Get him up against the wall!
He needs anger management counselling. Right?
Anger management? I think he needs substance abuse management.

Most people have problems managing anything when they are under the influence of a mind altering drug.
The bleeding hart liberals say 'take away the tasers!'

So I guess he would have been shot.
First of all, it is right to think that the judge may sentence this man to anger management and substance abuse counselling...if he ever gets to court.

Because of the accused's rights...he will obtain legal counsel, have his legal counsel appear on his behalf on the half dozen or so court appearances that will arise from this matter, probably never see the inside of a courtroom and walk away with a slap on the wrist and a small mark from the tazer. No big deal.

The reason we have repeat offenders is the because the nice bleeding hearts in this wonderful country want to make sure that criminals' rights are considered...and therefore punishments are too lacks. If we had stiffer punishments...and criminals were actually punished for breaking the laws..perhaps they would think twice about the consequence to their actions. Who would want to spend a couple years in a jail with limited choice of meals, no exercise, no community programs and limited enjoyment for televisions and other forms of entertainment?

But hey...when you can get away with pretty much anything...why would you care about being a lawbidding citizen..the worst that could happen now is the tazer!
Point taken craftymom!
Punishment IS the only thing these people will understand but, unforunately,it is the one thing the bleeding hearts DON"T understand!
And so, on and on it goes!
Obviously, our judges and our court system don't get it either!
What if we left the punishments the same but did some kind of 3 strikes you're done type thing.

People mess up. I can deal with that. No one is perfect.

Mess up 3 times and we should elevate it to a whole different level.

I'm still not sure I understand our system. The pig farmer kills someone and gets 25 years before parole eligibility. So he is convicted of 5 more murder and he gets.......... 25 years before parole eligibility..... Why wouldn't it be 6x25 years?
I am still confused on thing...does the bleeding heart still feel same way the crime in questions violates them as a victim...when they lose the loved one to a drunk driver..a murder...when the leave the mall and are beaten up and mugged...when they wake up in the morning and their property is damaged or gone? Do they have enough forgiveness to let any of the above happen to them 3 times? I am sorry but it is a proven fact and statics show that when the precedents set by our law makers and court system started taking into consideration the criminals' rights and punishments reflected the terrible childhood they have all be subjected to that crime rates went up...how can a bleeding heart dispute that...or are they the ones responsible for the bad childhoods?
Oh my bleeding heart sings. Who creates the imperfect people of the world? One answer, YOU!! Reflect on that for a minute. YOU as a society create all the woes that exist. It is your opinions and actions that create the course of destruction for the masses. YOU stereotype and classify people in a ranking system that YOU deem appropriate, to satisfy your position on this planet. Yes YOU do it, acknowledge it or not. YOU create the saints and sinners idealogy. WE all do it. WE can collectively and very slowly manipulate this course if WE chose. For starters, whenever you coagulate a biased opinion of someone YOU do not know or never met before, don't assume the worst. Give the benefit of doubt, not everyone receives lifes' just rewards in the same manner as YOU did. Show some compassion, some hope, one day you may need the same. Karma reciprocates Kindness. For the record, I swing to the sinner side, just because it is entertaining to remove ones self from reality. Seasons Greetings to all.
