While no names have been released, more details concerning a two car accident on highway 97 near Dunkley Lumber on Saturday have been released.

Police now say the accident occurred when a Kia Rio heading north and a Chrysler Intrepid heading south collided.

The Intrepid heading south crossed the center line and was struck by the Kia in the passenger side.

The force of the collision split the Chrysler in two, killing both occupants from Ft St James.

The driver of the Kia, the lone occupant was taken to hospital with serious injuries

Wow, chalk one up for the KIA. I always figured you wouldn't servive hitting a curb with one of those let alone spliting another car in half from impact.

I wonder if the intrepid is also another front wheel drive car as seems to be the case in most of these crossing the centre line accidents?
Side impacts are very destructive, no matter what you are driving.

The Intrepid is a front wheel drive car as is the Kia.

We had a Chrysler Concorde ( same as the Intrepid) and it was very good on snow and ice, very stable and predictable.

There are two side road entrances/exits close to Dunkley Lumber and trucks enter the traffic there, not always properly, I might add.

Perhaps these were not the only two vehicles on the road when the Intrepid spun out?

Somebody somewhere get the story right...north - south - then north.....jeese.
