Prince George, B.C - Prince George City Councillor Shirley Gratton wants the City to  kick more cash into the operations funding for the Parks Department.  She says  the department has run deficits in the last three years,  money that had to be covered by surpluses in Development Services.

Gratton says other cities  spend far more on their parks,  and Prince George is falling behind. Her stats indicate other cities, like Kelowna and Kamloops have twice as many staff in their  parks department,  and spend far more on their parks.

Her request  has been referred to the budget process.
