Fire at Rustad Mill

Ladder truck continues to spray water on a hog fuel bin at Rustad Sawmills.

Prince George, B.C. - Fire crews remain on scene at a fire  at the Rustad Sawmill in the BCR Industrial site in Prince George.

Since yesterday afternoon, a fire has been smoldering in  the one hog fuel bin that does not have an automatic sprinkler system.   (Click on video icon for a video of the  event.)

  Two other such bins on the site are equipped with the sprinklers.

Firefighters say the only thing they can do is  keep the bin cool so the heat doesn’t melt the welds.   The ladder truck  continues to pour water on the bin.
