I still can't figure out why they hand out 24 hrs suspensions. If you get caught speeding for the first time or are just a little over the speed limit do they give you 24 hrs to think about what you have done. They should be arresting these people and impounding the vehicles. Put thier ass in jail and sell the vehicle to cover the costs. There are enough ways of getting home now adays when you are drinking that there should be no excuse and zero tolerance. If you get caught 30 days in jail and forfieture of the vehicle you are driving as a first offence after that jail time goes up.
apester, check out the following link, I think you will find it most interesting. Further more, I would advise any one who thinks its cool to drink and drive to read this as well.

I agree with apester about zero tolerance. I don't care if you're family or a friend...you get busted drinking/driving or pot/driving you deserve the proper punishment. Notice keyword being proper.
24 hr suspensions are for those who blow on a roadside screening device whoose readings measure between .05 and 1.00 This is a warn.
On the breathalyser there is a plus or minus factor of .10 for a margin of error.
With .05 your car can be impounded by law under the Motor Vehicle Act. If caught at a roadblock, and you fail the roadside screening device, then your blood alcohol is above 1.00 and you will most likely be looking at a charge of +.08 under the criminal code but not impaired driving since there is no driving evidence of impairment. But if you are observed driving erratically and blow over 1.00 on the road screening device then you are looking at 2 criminal code charges: impaired and +.08. Its up to crown to decide which one or both to go with.
In all, it ain't worth the trouble. take a cab or call operation red nose.
Beer:

Becks, Warsteiner and Holsten are all available as 0% alcohol beers, at least one of these (plus ODoole's...grrrrh) is carried in most Prince George establishments.

They taste great, not like doggy beers at all, and are fine to consume by a designated driver.

No alcohol, no problems.
Amputate their arms at the shoulders...
lets see ya drink and drive then...
With taxi, and bus service (free on New years night, and "Operation Red Nose" and "Keys Please" bot organizations that will see both you and your car get home, for a small(donation)....
There is not one excuse for anyone driving impaired.
My comment above may be a little severe but so is what the bozo' are doing...I let them live, drunks behind the wheel kill.
Doggy beers? My dog likes any beers. Do they have special canine cans:) Happy New Year!!
