Prince George, B.C. – It may be several more weeks before it is known if charges will be laid in connection with the vehicle  collision on Highway 1  just north of Boston Bar last month which claimed the life of  53 year old Shelly Zenzen.

The Regional District Director  for Shelly and Willow River, died December 18th when a semi tractor trailer heading southbound lost its load of railway ties onto the highway and two vehicles, one of which was being driven by Zenzen.

Constable Lea-Anne Dunlop with the Fraser Valley Traffic Services says  investigators are still waiting for  some reports to be completed  “Those reports will answer some important questions like was speed a factor, what condition was the  semi tractor trailer in, what were the road conditions?”

The reports that have yet to be completed are from the Coroner, the Traffic Analyst and Commercial Vehicle Inspections.

The charge being considered in this case is dangerous driving causing death.

At the time of the collision, witnesses said they believed speed was a factor.

This accident is reminiscent to the horrific logging truck accident that occurred on he upper levels highway a couple of years ago. To prevent load shifting or loss of Loads on trucks, a containerized system should be developed and implemented, so as to protect the traveling public, there is no excuse for these accidents to have occurred. Simply stated, people lost their lives due to stupidity.
The other day the wife and I counted 28 loaded logging trucks between PG and Vanderhoof.
And some had pretty shakey looking loads.
But we never saw a single cop car other than in downtown PG and Vanderhoof.
It's only a matter of time, because some of these guys were in one hell of a hurry, considering the overall road conditions!
