Prince George, B.C. -  Prince George RCMP are not  able to confirm if three  recent  shootings indicate there is a  turf war  underway between rival gangs.

The most recent happened overnight when shots were fired at a home in the 2100 block of Norwood Street.  The resident of the home was not  hurt, however the family dog was hit and   has been taken to a vet.  Police have arrested three people in connection with that shooting.

On January 3rd , there were two shootings, one left a resident of  Victoria Street residence with  what police  refer to as “life altering injuries” after the  20 year old man had been shot in the neck.  A few hours later,  shots were fired from a high powered rifle into a residence in the 1100 block of LaSalle Crescent. No one hurt in that shooting.

RCMP Superintendent Dahl Chambers  says he is not able to confirm if this is a turf war involving the same  players  who were involved in the brawl at the Pine Centre Mall  Christmas Eve.  During that fight between members of the Independent Soldiers and the Crew,  hundred dollar bills  were  caught on the wind, and  disappeared as Christmas shoppers  snatched  up the cash.

Chambers says what is most concerning is the use of firearms.  “We know this is targeted crime” says Chambers, “but some innocent person may get injured .”

Chambers says these cases pose special challenges because those involved won’t cooperate with police. While there is no one from the lower mainland’s integrated  anti-gang unit here in Prince George, Chambers says there is  a great deal of expertise in  his  local detachment and North District “There is the Federal Intelligence Unit, the Federal Drug Section and  GIS as well as  my own  team.  We are very concerned with these activities, (gang  activity) especially  since firearms  are now involved, and we will vigorously pursue those involved as the safety of the  general public  is of paramount concern.”

Wasn't someone recently mentioning how safe our lovely neighborhood is? I heard these shots last night while I was trying to sleep. Can't wait to move.
The CIA uses waterboarding, they know what works ?
these gang members should shoot each other to death to get rid of half the crime in town
Sure a good thing we have all those duck & moose hunters with registered guns now. It should be a piece of cake to track all the street crime and murders and drug related robberies right from our desks saving untold millions on fuel. Just locate the gun used in the crime, drive over to the perpetrators house and slap the cuffs on him. Piece of cake, should be back at Timmy's by noon.

But wait. We could have a problem. It appears this gun is not registered. "Hey what's going on here" That is a crime. This weapon is not registered. Who is responsible for this. How are we going to catch these pukes if they are going to persist in useing non-registered firearms.

Fact: 99% of crimes involving firearms are disgruntled duck hunters who just happen to be fueling up before heading to the potholes to hunt ducks. Upon discovering the high cost of fuel the the duck hunter momentarily looses touch with reality and becomes enraged to the breaking point. They then proceed to go into neighborhoods in the surrounding area and shoot out street lights

Fact: 83% of moose hunters use the annual ritual of hunting to disguise the real objective which is mainly the cultivation and harvesting of marijuana form logged off areas. The practice of not using hunter orange and dressing in camouflage clothing to cloak there true intention's has both the RCMP frustrated as well as sporting goods store owners who have braced for the increase in blaze orange hat sales.

Fact: 99.9% of drug drug dealers and gang members have been found to hold not only a provincial hunting license in their respective province but also a migratory bird permits, moose tags, elk tags and some have even been known to hold fishing licenses.
The RCMP have concluded that gang land criminal activity has been so financially lucrative that it affords the criminal with an excess of free time resulting in and sharp increase in these activities.
It is also believed the proliferation of golf courses and tennis courts in an affluent areas might also indicate an impending spike in the crime rate as criminals with too much free time take up other sports.

I for one am very glad our finite resources are being used where they will do the most good such as putting the criminals behind bars even if it is only for a weekend.
