Prince George, B.C. - Some of the worst flooding to date on the lower end of the Nechako River took place last night as the ice jam moved from around Del Haven on North Nechako Road back down to Winton Global. The result was that the water rose by between 4 and 6 feet within a matter of minutes on the north side of the Nechako River along Pulp Mill Rd.
Two people who had recently returned to their home, had to be rescued by the Prince George Fire Department 's "Water Rescue Team" who used a Zodiac to get to the couple.

Significant flooding then took place along the north and south side of Pulp Mill Rd. in spite of efforts to try and pump out the ground water seeping through to the homes on the north side of the road.
The resulting flooding sent water back into Winton Global operations along River Road. The water crossed the newly section of River Road which had been raised by about 4 feet from it's previous level. "The water at that site was 15 inches higher than the 200 year flood level" says City Spokesman Kevin Brown.

The percolating effect left many businesses along 1st Avenue across the CNR tracks and about 400 meters from the dikes pumping water from their businesses.
Sump pumps were seen pumping water from businesses along that stretch of 1st Ave and pumper trucks were also trying to pump the water out of business affected by the underground percolation of the flood waters.
