'07 Housing Starts Up in Prince George

 Prince George, B.C. -  Housing starts in Prince George were  up 2.5% last year compared to 2006. However,  the  starts  in December  of '07  were well off the mark compared to the same month in '06

In December of '06 there had been 17 starts,  compared to just 3 starts in December of '07.  Canada Mortgage and Housing says  there is no need to worry, that  the drop could be  explained by   something as ssimple as the weather. CMHC predicts another 2.5% increase  this year.

Overall,  the housing starts, ( singles and multiple) in Prince George  for 2007 were  328  in  2007 compared to 320 in  2006.

Provincially starts were up  5.5%  with the greatest increase taking place in  Kamloops where starts were up 12.2%. The larges drop in starts  occurred in Abbotsford  where starts in '07 were  down 9.9%
