Prince George, B.C. -  There  is no telling when, or if,  the man charged in connection with a  single vehicle, multiple  fatality crash on Highway 97  will ever  appear in a  B.C. Court.

On October 1, 2006, three Prince George youths died as a result of injuries suffered in a crash that occurred on Highway 97 near the Dunkley Lumber operation.  At the time of the accident it was thought there was one fatality as the body of a 16 year old was discovered at the scene, that teen’s name has not been released.

The next day, officers discovered the bodies of two others, 14 year old Seref Pearson and 13 year old Ashley Ross.

A 26 year old Prince George man, Terry Lewis, the driver of the vehicle, has been charged with Drive Without Due Care and Attention per Section 144(1)a) of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Lewis is in Alberta, and according to Quesnel RCMP Sergeant, Gary Clark-Marlow, it is not normal practice to have someone returned to B.C. to face a charge under the Motor Vehicle Act.  Clark-Marlow says the final decision lies with the Crown Counsel in Quesnel.

Opinion 250 has  attempted  to  discuss the matter with thethe  Provincial Crown Counsel in  Quesnel ,                                    has not returned  our calls for  clarification.

THATS GOOD TO KNOW..DO THE CRIME AND MOVE TO ANOTHER PROVINCE. I THOUGHT THE LAW WAS APPLIED COAST TO COAST.
Nah! You can do, let's see. Hmmm? With 10 provinces and three territories it seems to me you can do about 12 low level non-life impacting crimes and the system maybe can't be bothered with the trouble and expense of flying you from court date to court date in each jurisdiction. Besides, I can't comprehend the Crown dishing out dough to cover your carbon credits going from courthouse to courthouse, only to get put on probation twelve times. Plus doing community service. How can one expect a loser to do 12 episodes of raking leaves in front of seniors homes. What a system, eh?
It may not be normal practice to have someone returned to BC to deal with charges under to Motor Vehicle Act, but it is done.

Friends were hit on the motorcycle by someone running a red light and that individual fled to Alberta and he was picked up by the RCMP in Alberta on those charges and returned to BC to face the charges, so it is done, and it needs to be done, it is unacceptable to allow individuals to flee to another province in order to not have to deal with the charges placed against them in a different province.

As has been said many times in the past, our justice system needs to make some changes in this regard, and many others.
Gutless, spineless, toothless justice. Who on this planet created these rules? And who in authority today has the authority to change things immediately? God,help us. We are out of control. We have no accountability and nobody willing to enforce it. Chester
All to true Chester, but unfortunately the only ones who can put the pressure on our politicians for change is us!
We really need to do that now, more than ever.
Not that they ever pay any attention what WE think!
Ain't justice great?
