Prince George, B.C. -  The amphibex  has been loaded on a flatbed, and is on its way to Prince George. The machinery  will be used to clear a channel in the Nechako River.

Eco Technologies had the machinery on the way yesterday, so it is ex-ected the equipment will arrive late Thursday or early Friday.

Meantime there are plenty of meetings underway.  Preparations are being made for the installation of  piopes for the hot water treatment plan,  there is an information session this evening for residents impacted by the  flood.  That meeting will  take place in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 7.

Starting on the 22nd of January,  there will be a a public meeting every Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the Civic Centre,to provide ongoing updates on the emergency and permit the opportunity for members of the public and those impacted by the flooding to meet with personnel working on the emergency operations.

There is a meeting this afternoon to dispel  rumours that the City’s water supply is at risk,  the Mayor will be making a public address on PGTV at 5:30   and  there is an open  general public meeting set for tomorrow evening at  the Civic Centre.

As for the water levels, they dropped along the course of the ice jam, down 0.1 metres at Cottonwood Island Park, 0.3 metres at the Cameron Street Bridge and 0.4 metres at Pozer Road near the Delhaven subdivision.
The City is also making plans to raise gabion dikes previously installed to 0.6 metres above the 200-year flood level as a precautionary measure.
Several information sessions have been arranged to provide details on the ice jam.

If our country didn't have a Lieberal government for eleven years maybe we would have had one of them C-130s and we could fly the machine here. Woe is us.
About six weeks have gone by since the first high water so waiting 4 days for the Amphibex is not a big deal.

I thought the Harper government took delivery of the first of the US-built military heavy lifter planes already? Or is it too busy flying to Afghanistan?

I think the military planes have more important things to do than worry about one small industrial area in PG that is getting wet occasionally. It doesn't take long for the water to receed when it does come up.

The home owner that were allowed to build by the river and flooded out should be a city problem, and unfortunately, us city taxpayers.
I drove along both sides of the Nechako on Sunday and it appeared that all of the water flowing down the Nechako is also making it's way to the Fraser. So, for now, the ice is not impeding the flow of water. Melting the ice or removing the ice is a sensible solution for potential problems later this winter. Chester
What I am still wondering is why the push for the pipes?? Something's not right here...can't put my finger on it. And why weekly meetings beginning Jan22? Something is very odd here. Won't the decisions have been made by then if they haven't already?...These pipes sure seem to be VERY important. Why? For what---or whom?
plan the parade route! the amphibex is on the way. i smell a capsising.
we could have a recovery mission yet.
