George Mountain maybe?

I tried to get up there last weekend and the bloody trail is solidly impassible by overgrown willows. Lots of moose though.

The wind mills could tap on to the grid using the power line that feeds Camp McGiness.

Interesting, the Buckhorn Road going from sawmills to windmills.
Wind power is not all its cracked up to be. For one it requires a 90% backup from normal power generators. Have a look at this link: http://burningourmoney.blogspot.com/2008/01/windmills-of-your-mind.html
Anyone can publish a web site. I have an uncle with a wind farm in southern Alberta and I can tell you those facts are not correct. His windmills are guaranteed from the manufacture to have an 85% availability rating.

That means it will produces its expected output 85% of the time (payback 6-years guaranted at $1.5 million per unit), and if it doesn't the manufacturer will pay you the difference at market rates if availability drops below 85%. They are still in business, so they must have their figures right or the liability would kill them.

How can they guarantee 85% availability you ask? Simple, the turbins can only turn up to a certain speed, I think a 15km wind will turn it at its maximum speed. That kind of wind is found just about anywhere, but most important is where it is consistantly above 15kph. Any wind speed above the rated wind speed is irrelevant and does not mean the turbins will produce that much more power.

George mountian would likely be a great place for this kind of generation IMO. I haven't heard of this project, but its great to see some people are thinking about these kinds of things here in BC.
Check out the popular mechanics website, and look at the article on residential win power from a few months ago.
Jay leno is using a new turbine, that is cheap and efficient, i think wind power is an excelllent idea myself.
