There is a plan for change for what used to be North Nechako School.

Now closed, the site, currently zoned P-1 which allows for park, recreation or education, is up for sale. New developers would like to have the property re-zoned and will get the wheels in motion tonight at City Council.

Council will be asked to give the first two readings to a rezoning application that would create a CD-2 zoning (North Nechako Commercial Comprehensive) for the 8 .65 acre site.

The application doesn’t outline exactly what the developers have in mind, but the sketchy details refer to it as “comprehensive outdoor and indoor recreation services with some commercial development”.

City says the new zoning would allow:
1. Commercial open land recreation
2. Commercial Recreation
3. Commercial retail (in conjunction with #1 or #2)
4. Dwelling (one) for a caretaker,
5. Golf Course (in conjunction with #1 or #2)
6. Liquor Store (in conjunction with #1 or #2)
7. Restaurant (in conjunction with #1 or #2)

Where there is a demand business will attempt to fill it. Good to see that this property will be put to good use rather than sitting empty.
