Prince George, B.C. -  The big winner at Thursday night’s Northern British Columbia Business and Technology Awards had to be Heidi 1555 (Heidi Robinson).

Heidi is the young woman who dug up the idea  of using ECO Technologies of New Brunswick  to break up the ice jam on the Nechako River in Prince George , after many experts said, we may have to wait for spring to see the flooding end.

Heidi , is a stay at home mum who went on the internet, researched  the problem of Ice jams in communities and then posted her results on Opinion250 , telling everyone who wanted to listen , how you can get rid of an ice jam.

Heidi was acknowledged at last night’s awards, first by Agriculture Minister Pat Bell who asked that the spot light be put on her table, then by Mayor Colin Kinsley.

Earlier on in the evening , Councilor Debora Munoz,  first approached Heidi  to tell her that it was her intention to mention her name at City Council next Monday evening. That was followed by a meeting with Derek Bates, City Manager who upon being told that Heidi 1555 was in attendance came over to talk to her.

Heidi says she was overwhelmed at the attention.

Heidi had attended the awards at the invitation of Opinion250 .

I knew you had class. And that is why your critics can't understand you; they are classless morons.

PG et al needs to fire cops and replace them with productive workers who can clear ice jams.
Congratulation to Heidi. She is an example of how to be innovative. She probably be good at running her own business if she has a cance.
Great to see, congrats Heidi !
Congratulations Heidi
Hooray for Heidi. I guess some good karma was due your way also. And on another note, thanks Heidi, you were also right about good karma coming my way.
Congratulations Heidi!
Now a run for council?
Heidi, did I mention how proud I am of you? (only about a zillion times, I think. lol) (((HUGS)))

The city should provide Heidi with a new computer and make her the official community researcher!
She is obviously better at it than some of the highly paid doughheads they have downtown!
Now...can you find a way to make Gordon Campbell and a few other politicians useless disappear...?
:-)
Aaaww thanks everyone and mom :) lol..
Thanks Ben, Elaine, staff of Opinion250 for all being so kind to a rookie suit wearer.
Thanks for the hug Councilor Debora Munoz. Made me feel more comfortable being there.
Thanks to Mayor Kinsley for the kind words.

Spotlight on Pat Bell for a second here:
The Price of Piping Water to the River $$$, The Price of Amphibex $$, The Price on Pat Bells face when he realized heidi1555 was seated next to him at our table......PRICELESS!!!

I know you are reading this ;)
Congrats Heidi :-D Keep up the good work! A bit of research goes along way! Also a great win for the admin of Opinion250 as well. Cheers everyone!
i do not see her name for a real award on the list. looks like she got ripped off to me. oh well, fame is fleeting and some other unemployed hobo would have found the icebreaker sooner or later.
Good for you Heidi and for Ben too!
Dont want to be the **fly in the ointment** nor to take anything away from Heidi and her research, however lets not forget that this machine in not in the water yet and therefore we really dont know if it will work.

It requires water to work and in my opinion this will make it somewhat ineffective on the south side of the River, and we already have a channel on the North side. I doubt that this machine will be able to do much except break ice on the North West side which may get the water presently going through Cottonwood Park to channel North, however there is a possibility that with the frozen river south of the Yellowhead bridge that the Fraser River may just force this water back up the Nechako.

However nothing ventured nothing gained. I hope the machine delivers the goods.

Congrats Heide
Congratulations, Heidi! Even if the thing doesn't work - I think it will - you have shown that there is always more than one way to *skin a cat* and that it just takes an inquisitive attitude to find it!

Mayor Colin Kinsley graciously acknowledged your contribution as well!

"Sustainability Award Gina Gallant - plastics in asphalt"

Congratulations!
Congrats to Heidi for finally being
recognized by the powers that be. We are
all keeping our fingers crossed that the
machine will work and the plan seems more
plausable than dumping lukewarm water on
the ice jam.

Does anyone know how much money the City
spent on the so-called ice expert? I think we should get a refund.
Priceless. That's hilarious.

If at first a politician seems bright, wait a second, sound is slower to than light. Surely they will open their mouths and show you who's right.
Heidi got an award and also just showed me that most of our elected and unelected bozos in charge of decision making read Opinion 250. Good on her on both counts.
Way to go George Kennedy !!!!
Congrats to Heidi on your passion and committment. We are very lucky to have you here in PG.
Kuddos to George Kennedy too, another hard working dedicated individual.
atta girl, when it sinks, I blame Heidi!
I look at it this way. The city obviously found my idea to be of value and if it doesn't work they never should've listened to me. They took my idea and went with it but I understand totally where you are coming from believe me I want this machine to work. Plus I really don't think this thing was designed to sink. :)
Now lets not be so negative and just hope everyone can return to work soon!
I have a feeling we may have chatted before.......

:)
Congrats Heidi.

Cool of o250 to invite her as well.
If it doesn't work, it was still a better idea than waiting until spring.
