Prince George RCMP, in conjunction with Canada Post Investigators, are looking into the theft of two curbside mailboxes.

RCMP responded to two complaints within minutes of each other -- the first from the 24-hundred block of Devonshire Crescent, the second from St. John Crescent -- yesterday afternoon.

In both instances, a grey Mail Carrier Drop Box was missing.  Police say a resident in the vicinity of Devonshire saw two men in black clothing load one of the boxes into the back of a white, 1980's model Toyota.  Tire tracks were also observed backing up to the box on St. John Crescent.

Police are asking anyone with information on the identity of the two suspects or the suspect vehicle to call the local detachment or crimestoppers.

first off, is this a real theft? I saw a 1980's toyota 4 runner on Friday night, about 21:30. The vehicle was white with decals on the sides, i asked them what was going on and they said " canada post was restructuring routes and they had to move a bunch of mailboxes. This one in particular was being moved to the other side of St John. They were in black clothing, clean cut, late 20's early 30's. It looked to me as if they had a badge on his shirt. I know that day my mailman at the shop told us about this restructure.
I just came back from an outing and noticed the grey drop box was missing from Trent and Simon Fraser in College Heights. Odd though, that this one would be moved, it has always been right next to two red mailboxes, that are still there. Would Canada Post move mailboxes at that late hour?
saturday night, about 9.45 pm.i saw a 89 toyota 4 runner white with red pinstripes on the bottom side panels, backed up to the curb in the intersection by a grey mailbox,i went down the block turned around came back ,box and truck were gone.corner of 7th.and victoria.
There would be Government checks in those grey mailboxes. **Family Allowance**

Stealing mail is a Federal offence and can get you a lot of time in stir.
Was in 'Frisco once upon a time. Went to the Post Office there. Sign on the building plainly said, "Messing with the mail/and or mailman will getcha a $10,000 dollar fine and five years in jail". But that's America, eh? I wonder why we don't have those signs on our post office buildings?
