According to a report by CBC news, former provincial court judge David Ramsay has died in prison at the age of 64.

The CBC quotes an official at the Dorchester Penitentiary in New Brunswick as saying Ramsay died yesterday morning, but the cause of death is not being disclosed.  Officials contacted at the correctional facility by Opinion250 News today would not divulge any further information, saying only that more details may be released tomorrow.

In the lead up to Ramsay’s National Parole Board hearing last fall, it was revealed he had terminal cancer.

In 2004, the Prince George judge was sentenced to seven years for sex-related offences involving young aboriginal women, many of whom had appeared before him as defendants.

In 2006, he waived his right to a parole hearing.  Last fall, he had planned on appearing before the board, but once again waived his right when family members of his victims planned to attend the public hearing.

So be it.
It seems Ramsey never quite understood, or showed any remorse for what he had done.
A very sad end to what should have been a long and distiguished career, upholding the laws of this country.
It just goes to show us that power and prestige are no substitue for honesty and moral fiber, and nobody is beyond the law,no matter who or what they are.
Thus closes the chapter on Ramsay, he got away with being a child molester for years and pays by living less than two years in jail while his victims must live with their memories (this includes members of his own family). There really is no justice in this world. I'm sure the victims are glad he is gone.
If Dave Ramsey was considered to be a child molester then so are hundreds of other guys that were picking the young girls up and still are because they are still out there. The only reason he got dealt with was because he was in a position of trust and a very brave young woman from a very sad home life and addiction problem had the guts to charge him. There was more to the man. He was a good father and at one time a good husband. When the Connaught Junior High burned down he was a spokesperson for the area to try to get the school rebuilt and fought very hard on our behalf. I want to remember the good things about him and I am sure his family is trying to do the same thing as I am sure their hearts were broken and still are. Dave never spoke out so how do you know how remorseful he was? He has paid the ultimate price. He is dead and this is how he is going to be remermbed . TAKE HEED JOHNS.
I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to his family.
Yeah, Ted Bundy was a hell of a guy too...
My condolences to the family, they probably wish things were different.
He is now dead. Wormfood. No, he's not good enough for that either.
Let the man rest in peace, he is going to be facing the toughest JUDGE of all as we all will, hopefully he has asked for his forgiveness.
Ted Bundy died? What the heck, no one told me! Now that was a guy I could understand.
No sympathy from the devil here. The Karma King has doled out a ruling and its not reversible. Perhaps, he was a good father and citizen? Bringing shame to your family, tarnishing the family name forever, a good father does these things, think again.

Yama, for the first 3 weeks of 2008, most of your comments made sense as if you had given them some thought before you aired them. It seemed like you made some form of New Years Resolution. What happened, you fell off the wagon so quick.
You don't like Ted Bundy?
You are thinking of his brother Al.
I wonder how the RCMP officers involved in the judges case are doing these days seeing as they got off Scott free as per usual for that organization.
A sad story.
And too many stupid comments.
I believe that David Ramsay paid dearly for what he did -- loss of his job, family and freedom.

I don't believe that Dave Ramsay paid enough for what he did, he just got off easy. I have no repect for a man that could risk it all as he did to satisfy his own selfish needs. He abused his victims, and he destroyed his family, the ones that loved him the most. How sad for them, and his victims. Maybe his death will bring them some peace and closure.
Everyone is focusing on Dave Ramsay. What he did was despicable but what about all the others that are out there doing the same thing and are getting away with it. In the Citizen today I think the father to one of the victims sums it up best with his comment, Quote, "I think his family are victims also because of this and my heart goes out to his family, I don't wish for them to wear his punishment".I hope this gentleman continues to be a strong advocate and helps get children off the streets.I support the RCMP, they do the best they can, there are bad apples in every barrel
Unfortunately we have no control over the other perverts that are out there doing the same thing until someone speaks out so that they can be caught and punished. I agree completely with Bob Sandbach's statement. I think he is a very generous and kind man considering what he's been through. But even he can see that Dave Ramsay's family members are blameless in this. I can only imagine how broken they must feel and wish them only the best.
We could have more control if we knew who the province is relocating in Prince George, and had some information as to where they are living, you could have a pedophile next door. The are sending preditors here and it's all a big secret. Too bad someone with knowledge about this wouldn't speak out.
