Prince George, B.C. -  The City is out with a new cost estimate for its expenses in dealing with the Nechako River icejam and flooding.

Liaison Officer, Kevin Brown, says the total is now approaching $4.2-million dollars...up about $200-thousand from the beginning of the week.

Brown says the bulk of the expenses to date have been for response activities that have been undertaken since the flooding first began on December 11th -- that includes the preventative measures like earth berms and diking now in place.

As for  the river today, water levels are down at most measuring points along the Nechako, including Morning Place where some homes experienced minor flooding from seepage last weekend.

Representatives from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Team, Ministry of Environment and Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) EOC Team are taking a helicopter flight over the Nechako River this afternoon to survey the length of the ice jam and determine if any changes in ice conditions or water levels have occurred in the past few days.
