Prince George, B.C. -  The 23rd Annual Festival d’ Hiver kicks off in Prince George today with the favourite event for the sweet tooths in the family -- the Sugar Shack...

The first event in the week of festivities, hosted by the Le Cercle des Canadiens Francais, is at Ecole Franco-Nord School on Ellison Drive.

The day’s activities includes, of course, the maple toffee rolled in snow, sleigh rides, ice skating, cross saw demonstrations, and a brunch.  The cost is $15 for adults, $7 for children, or $40 for a family.

On Monday, a preschool story time is set for the Prince George Public Library at 10:30am.  Tuesday is movie night at CNC, starting at 7pm.  Wednesday is a Seniors’ luncheon at The Exploration Place.  Thursday is skating night at Ecole Franco-Nord School.

The festival wraps up next Saturday night at the Columbus Community Centre, featuring Chakidor.
