Interesting ....

Will we get to know why they were selected? Was it a popularity contest or was there a panel who selected them based on some type of criteria?

The reason for selecting the two gals from the North Nechako is fairly self explanatory for those who have been following the activities here in 2007.

The rest I really have to wonder what it is exactly that they did that goes above and beyond the call of their normal duty.
BTW ... the air quality downtown was cooperative .... 41 for 24 hour average and rising at 7pm ... that means the hourly actual during the day would have likely been over 50 ....

:-(

ditto on the comment re the media award

absolutely unbelievable that hoekstra's work was not recognized...

this one award makes this whole thing look like a complete sham
I must agree with the other posts. I spoke to one of the nominees after their name was announced on this list. They had no idea they were nominated. Didn't know about award nor date of award announcement when I congratulated them on their nomination. You would think that lots of attention would be in order for something as significant as air quality from the group wanting it front and center. Oops, guess this group dropped the ball as well.
Based on the criteria which Raparee identified, which are quite reasonable criteria, I wonder what anyone has done that goes beyond what Gordon has done.

Maybe the stuff he writes is too difficult for people to comprehend.
Brian Skakun clean air award? Probably for vetoing a polluting drive thru escort agency, maybe.
