Warm Water Treatment Seems to Be Working

Prince George, B.C. - The system  that has  warm water being dumped into the Nechako River, seems to be working.

A 150 meter channel has opened in the ice blockage at the confluence of the Nechako and Fraser Rivers.  The ice blockage formed last week during the extreme cold spell and ice completely covered the Nechako River for a distance of about 400 meters upstream and for a distance of about 300 meters of the Fraser River downstream.  The ice blockage is not causing any problems as water is flowing freely underneath the ice.

Meantime, wrmer temperatures   have  helped increase the length of another open channel in the lower Nechako.  That channel has grown to about 7kms in length from the confluence of the Nechako and Fraser rivers.

Ice now covers the Nechako River  for about  33 kilometers upstream from the confluence of the Nechako and Fraser rivers. Most of the ice beyond the 9 kilometer mark is soft, frazil surface ice and not jammed high as is the case in the lower 9 kilometers of the Nechako.

A new channel has opened up on the eastside of the Fraser River between the CN rail bridge and the Simon Fraser Bridge downstream.  However, the Fraser is still frozen to Fort George Canyon, a distance of about 30 kilometers downstream.

I am pleased to hear of some positive results regarding the work that was done on the River recently to attempt to keep the water flowing. It is my hope that major flooding will be avoided, at least by keeping the lower portion of the Nechako open. That seemed to be the bottleneck originally. Chester
Glad to hear :) Will be nice to see everyone return back to work full time hopefully soon. A friend of mine has only received two E.I. cheques both only for $85.00. Last I heard it could be until mid March before they can get things back to normal at work.
Don't hold your breathe. As soon as the jam upstream starts to breakup it will jam up again on the gravel bar at the mouth of the Nechako. The removal of that bar is key to preventing further jamming/flooding.
March 17 is what I hear Heidi for the workers at Winton Global.
Every Sunday at 2:00 pm ... all six bridges, lots of room ... thanks for your contributions... seems to be helping...

Goodtimes.. :-)

HOW COME EVERYBODY AGREES WITH REMOVING THE GRAVEL BAR AT THE MOUTH OF THE NECHAKO EXCEPT THE IDIOTS THAT ARE DOING THE STUDY?
Its just too simple for over educated people to understand giterdun!
