Mackenzie Mayor Takes Wait And See Attitude In Mill Purchase

Mackenzie Mayor Stephanie Killam says it is good news that Sinar Mas , a Chinese company, has purchased the Mackenzie Pulp mill subject to approval by the trustee.

Killam says Sinar Mas is themother company of  Asia Pulp and Paper.

The company has also purchased the mill in Ft St James; the figure for that purchase was not released.

Mayor Killam says,"It’s good news, but I need to wait and see what they plan to do with the mill”. 

Sinar Mas purchased the Mackenzie mill, a pulp mill in Nanaimo, and a pulp mill in Oregon for $225 million dollars. The transaction was released yesterday.
