On Saturday, October 15th, the entire community is invited to head to Massey Place Stadium for an official renaming of that facility.

Yes, after 50 years of dedication to Track and Field, Tom Masich is finally going to get his dues.  The Stadium will be renamed "Masich Place Stadium".

The renaming is for some, long overdue.  Thre are many in the community who believed the renaming should have taken place during Tom's 50th anniversary celebrations earlier this year.  Still, better late than never.

The big event  takes place at 2 p.m. Saturday October 15th.

I wonder if Tom is wondering how long it will be before the Stadium is given a new name.

It seems that names are just another part of our throw away society.

This is not a slight on Tom M, just an observation.
It just dawned on me that when the PG Airport becomes international it is time we named it after someone important.

The Backhouse International Airport .....
Is Mr Masich paying anything to have his name on the sign?It seems to me that the city could generate some revenue by selling the sign, similar to the deal we have with CN at the old muiltiplex. We could call it "poweraide place" or "red bull stadium" something that will generate some revenue. As far as the airport goes I kinda like "Offett/Kinsley international airport"
Rock
I betcha they do too....*S*

I think the Blake airport would be more appropriate. The staff and the Airport Authority should be congratulated on what they have done. There is an example of how to put facilites in place on a speculative basis. I hope that the approach of "build it and they shall come" will ring true for efforts.
