The British Columbia Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) is waiting for a decision from the Labour Relations Board aimed at halting the teachers planned job action.

"The teachers have made it clear they plan to be off the job Friday October 7th, and there's no telling how long they will stay off the job.  School District 57 has already  advised parents to make alternate arrangements for the children, as all schools will be closed tomorrow.

The Chair of the BCPSEA, Ron Christensen says "We have confidence in the professionalism of teachers and urge the BCTF to comply with the law,"  He added "School boards value the work of teachers and hope that they will not disrupt the education of our students to engage in political protest."

"As we said earlier in the week, we are hopeful that the Industrial Inquiry Commission announced by the Minister of Labour will result in a structure that will facilitate meaningful, productive collective bargaining between the BCTF and BCPSEA," said Christensen. "We intend to devote our energies to that process and hope that the BCTF will as well."

The Labour Board's decision is expected later tonight. but may not be enough to change the teachers plans.

I really hope they stay out as long as it takes to teach these dictators in Victoria the people of BC will not give up their rights so easily. Taking away the rights to negotiate is against huiman rights in this country.
