Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Athletic Association is concerned  there is a move to  have a Provincial body  look after  fight requirements.  "That means decisions about fights would be made in  Victoria, and  there should be something  here to  ensure the north has  representation" says George Winter of the PG Athletic Commission.

The  Athletic Commission  says  the talk about  the centralization of  boxing regulations  is  one reason why  the Athletic Commission should attend a session in Richmond  in May and in Montreal  in July. It would cost about $6,000 to attend both sessions. The Commission is  requesting  the money from City Hall as part of the annual budget  process.

The Mayor says the funding should be  part of a regular budget item as the  profit  from the  events  ends up in the City’s coffers. "We have to have it" says the Mayor "and I don’t want to see  the Commission  competing at budget time with  another  project which truly is a one time item."

While City Council has approved defering the request to the later discussions on  enhancements,  there is a desire to have  the Athletic Commission given an annual budget that will support attendance at these annual events.

The Athletic Commission says there are two fight events already scheduled for this year,  as the "King of the Cage" returns in March  and the "Ring King" will  be at the Civic Cente in April.

whoa,

funding this stuff is right???
I say don't give them anything if they can't clean up their stupid posters on all the lamp posts in town. The homo-mat-humpers have posters up still from more than 6-months ago. Why doesn't the city by-law enforcement look at some of this litter and send them a fine when it is not cleaned up a week after the event or ban that form of advertising all together for that matter?

If they want to hump each other on a mat its one thing, but littering in my town and getting away with it is something else....
