Too Little, Too Late, that's the reaction from BCTF President Jinny Simms on Education Minister Shirley Bond's idea.
Bond proposed a Round Table on Learning, that would address the issues of class sizes, and teaching conditions.
Bond says she is disappointed with Sims reaction.

Meantime, the Labour Relations Board is expected to  rule at any time now on the teachers planned job action for Friday.

Here at home, here is a copy of the notice School District 57 has issued to all parents:

Schools Closed Friday
The B.C. Teachers' Federation has announced that its members will not report to work on Friday, October 7 and will be picketing schools. Therefore, the district will be unable to provide students with instruction or supervision and schools will be closed to students.
Please note that schools will also be closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, October 8-10 to all school and community activities.
It is the sincere hope of the Board of School Trustees that this dispute will be concluded quickly and that normal school operations will resume shortly. However, it is possible that this job action will extend into next week. Parents should listen to their local radio station or check this website to determine if school will be in session on Tuesday, October 11.
