The oil and gas sector of the economy is booming, and Fort St. John is reaping yet another benefit.
The Oil and Gas Centre of Excellence at Northern Lights College is ready to break ground.
It will include a new oil and gas rig technician apprenticeship training program.
Funding for the program is a partnership of more than a dozen companies, the province, and the City of Fort St. John.
The new centre will allow new and existing rig workers to be fully trained in B.C.
The Centre of Excellence will take an additional 180 students in oil and gas related vocational trades, career and technical programs resulting in a total of 297 seats at the College to support the skill needs of the industry.
