The Telecommunications Workers Union  for Telus workers, has sent out thousands of flyers to try and put pressure on the Federal Government.

The mail in card asks the Federal Ministerof Labour, Joe Fontana, to "take action to  resolve the lockout at Telus now".

The Telus workers have been without a contract for nearly five years, and have been locked out since the beginning of the summer.

The flyer urges people to sign  the mail in card that asks the Labour Minister to "Appoint a Special Mediator with the power to make reccomendations or an Industrial Inquiry Commission to resolve the dispute."

There may have been a time when i would have supported telus workers, but I refuse to do so when striking workers have threatened the life of others and their families. I understand the situation that they are in but it is no excuse for violence, lost my support, as well as family and friends.
I think replacing Canadian workers with foreign workers still living in foreign countries is typically a bad decision. One of the few times it would not be would be if we had so much work to do in this country that we could put people here to work on more interesting and lucrative projects. If, on the other hand we sell off a paying job for 50% less to a foreigner who does not pay taxes in this country and we are left with providing welfare to our own people, the whole things becomes false economy.

This is something to be worked on at the highest levels in government to set appropriate policy. The unions should be lobbying government rather than dealing with their employers.

Union supporters or not, all Canadians should be concerned about the setting up proper conditions for fair international trade in services.
This company is a pain and should be made to pay attention to their workers and the common people. Why do we have a CRTC? They only seem to side with the monoplies in communications.
Krisb, "Ridiculous union wages"? You must be a Campbell backer and think everyone should work for $8.00 an hour. Yes that would be good for the economy. I'd like to see you do their job, splicing wire and such, I'd like to see a monkey do it. Maybe you could train a bunch and pay them nothing.
the loss of union jobs would definately hamper the housing market in prince george. how many people earning $8.00/hr would you have living in one house?
