Bill Vanderlans shows off cheque and  the dozen or so pages of paperwork and notes needed to claim his prize

Prince George, B.C. - Bill Vanderlans is smiling, his cheque for  $1,000 which he  won  in the January 23rd Extra, has finally been delivered.

It took   several phone calls, and  a dozen  pages of notes and  signed statements before the  BC Lottery Corporation would deliver the prize, all because Bill’s wife works in a store that sells tickets.

Bill bought the ticket  at a local convenience store,   which is not the same store where his wife works.

Under the new  pay out rules,  the  winner has to  declare if they  know any  ticket retailers..  Bill was honest,  and  that put the brakes on his pay out.

He has waited since January 25th to get the money,  as he had to   be interviewed by an investigator.

The  signing  and faxing back of the  statement he gave the investigator was the final  step to receiving his winnings.

The cheque arrived Monday.

The only consolation is that it is tax free.
Congrats to the winner!
Congratulations i'm glad you got your winnings
the reason for the rules is that there seems to be a number of crooks stealing from people by scamming them out of their tickets
if it is to much trouble to make some phone calls & fax some info don't buy tickets
What a joke. Glad he didn't die before getting his cheque.
I won more than that and didnt have to jump through all those hoops. Well at least he's got it.
Wonder if he'll stop playing now that he's had such a bad lottery experience?
I don't think so...you may not win with a ticket, but you certainly won't win without one.
