Prince George, B.C. - With news  a barrel of crude has topped the hundred dollar mark, gas prices  in some parts of Prince George have jumped by 9 cents a litre.

We say some, because, as of 1:00 this afternoon,  some  gas stations in the bowl  had upped their prices to  116.9 cents per litre, yet  all the gas stations on highway 97 north were still  pumping  regular unleaded for 107.9

The Mohawk, Chevron, Race Track, Turbo, Esso and Petro Can stations in the Hart were all  at 107.9

So fill up wisely!!!!

Well what else is new, next we get to look forward to the carbon tax of 2.4 cents per litre.
Wow!it just keeps getting better and better doesn't it.
It wouldn't hurt so bad if someone offered us an alternative. But hot air from politicians won't fuel my car, and it certainly won't reduce pollution.
Bunch of thieves are already charging the carbon tax filling their pockets.
Gotta love those Olympics
Just patronize the ones who keep the prices down the longest and drop them the first...
No real need for prices this high as when we were last at 100 a barrel it was only 109.9
yep...highway robbery!

*koff koff*

;)
Hydro Increase
Rising Gas prices
Carbon Tax
Rising home prices
Rising food prices

-They can only bleed us so much before we dont have anyting left to pay. Free country! My ass!
you got er...northman !

Carbon tax of 2.4 cents per litre. Don't forget folks, that is 11 cents per gallon for those of us who have becomed numbed, but not dumbed to price increases based on metric volumes. e.g.per litre vs per gallon. The recent 9 cent increases of fuel at the pumps translates to 41 cents per gallon. A price increase that would generate a civil revolution in the USA if this happened overnight. Wow, thats painful for those of us who do not have the luxury of taking the city bus, skytrain, or other method of rapid transit to our jobs in the bush, oilfields, or across the pothole laden, ice and snow covered roadways to wherever we need to go in the frozen north. Another clear example of what I call the disperity between area codes 250 and 604. Carbon tax my backside. Another cash grab from Gordo and Company in Victoria. Sure, most BC residents are concerned about the environment, but we are also smart enough to recognize a stinky pile when we hear it. Oh yes, one more thing, what have they done to improve the environment with the millions of dollars collected from tire and battery surcharges. General Revenue I suspect! The carbon tax is just another revenue stream into the Gordo pond.

It's also painful for those of us who don't have $40,000 or so kicking around to get a hybrid car the way BC Liberals have, having voted themselves a very generous pay increase. Of course with the scarcity of hybrids, and the supply and demand greed rule, the cost of energy efficient cars will skyrocket as well. Life will get tougher for the regular working Josie and Joe in BC
So, just how much tax is there in the cost of a litre of fuel? The government is as greedy as anyone when it comes to the price of gas. When the price goes up, so too does their share of the taxes. Don't see them offering to hold the line on their share. Now they even want to add more. I say work with what you are already getting. Forget about another tax. Carbon tax! Ha! I'm already down to one vehicle and walking to work. The more I do to reduce emmissions, the more they do to increase my contributions. It's really a no win for the consumer. They are going to get you one way or another. Chester
Is cheap gas a right?
No, NMG, but like anything else we use that's produced here, OUR gas should be based on the cost of production, plus a reasonable profit for all involved, not on 'global' speculation.
Good points, Northman, but what should we expect from a Premier who made all his pre-political livelihood from 'rising prices'?

Could we really expect an ex big city land pimp to know the difference between 'inflation', which is really all his government's brought us, and genuine 'prosperity'?
Will the GST be put on that carbon tax?
We need Skytrain, you fools! Starting at Parkwood Mall to Spruceland, stopping at Pine Centre, bottom of Peden Hill, Westgate, Vanway then to Beaverley. Time to start lobbying the terrible trio.
Harbinger, you forgot a run up to the Hart mall and the Pineview store, how about Giscombe and Willow River

:)
What ever happened to US pricing with these Bas**** gas companies?
I know that some nomadic tribe in Kuwait had their tents blow down in a sandstorm and therefore.......
But, I just returned from the US where I paid $2.73 to $ 3.07 a US gallon -- a lot less than $1.16.4.
I've decided I'll only buy gas at Superstore or Canadian Tire and take my $.05 cent coupons.

These gas prices are still reasonable and considering that you can buy a very nice home in PG for $350-$400,000 ie half of what it costs in numerous Canadian cities it is a small price to pay.
People in PG don't realize how good they have it.
A very good point socredible, and "inflation" is exactly what the Campbell Liberals have given us!
The people of B.C. had better start hanging on to their pennies because this is going to be an expensive ride unlike any we have seen before!
And it will get much worse once the "carbon tax" kicks in this July!
It won't just be gasoline that we will be getting hosed over,it will be about anything you can name.
Joe Consumer will be footing the bill for this Liberal ripoff and he isn't going to like it!
I am amazed that people sat back and said so little because they will be singing a different tune in a very short time!

We're just gonna have to start prioritizing folks. You get paid, off to the gas station to fill up yer good ol' dependable SUV and with the money you have left you can then go shopping for food. Bread prices rising so it 's gonna be like an Atkins diet foisted on you whether you like it or not. Walk thru the store, and if it is too pricey, forget it then. Just mumble to yourself, "I hope they sell it". When you have limited dough, you really find out what you can live without. Lifestyle changes coming down the pike. Like it or not.
I still haven't seen too many lift their foot off the gas pedal. 10 to 15kms over the speed limit is still the norm. How much beating do these guys have to take to realize that the way to save fuel is to slow down.
Is the carbon tax on a litre of gas gonna be added after the GST is calculated? Or are the Feds gonna collect GST on my carbon tax? I need to know. How about it, Gordo?
