Teachers Picket Kelly Road Secondary

There may not be any school over the weekend, but that doesn't mean teachers or their employers will be idle.

Sunday, the BC Public School Employers Association, heads to Court to have the Labour Relations Board Ruling set in stone.  That ruling  demands the teachers stay on the job, and abandon any thought of pickets or job action.

Tuesday, the Teachers are busy on two fronts.  They will present a case to the Labour Relations Board asking the LRB to reconsider its ruling which  orders teachers to stay on the job and here in Prince George, there's a rally in the works.

The Tuesday rally  is set for 4 p.m. in front of  Education Minister Shirley Bond's office on 5th Avenue.

Bond won't be there to greet them.

How come I can not fight a Traffic Ticket on SUNDAY IN COURT, I have to take time off work. HOW COME THE GOVERMENT GETS COURT ON SUNDAYS>
Don, you can't go to court on Sunday because you are a tax payer and pay the Liberal government their wages. In the eyes of the Liberal government....You are a nobody.
Hey Don, contrary to what comrade acid54 is staying in western society you can go to court on any day, you just have to pay for it. Remember Canfor and the truckers?
Otherwise wait for the regular hours.
From the posts of the other fellow, it makes me glad he isn't making the laws for the nation. I wish I could sent these disgruntled fellows to visit counties like Russia that tried what he is talking about, oh well, sorry I can't help him.
It's just too bad the Government won't negotiate with the teachers and are using the school kids and parents as hostages in this dispute. I guess their aim to show the teachers who's boss at any cost. Oh, and by the way, Pat Bell was off on his prediction during the election campaign in May when he was quoted in the Citizen as saying that the teachers were going on strike the next day. In the ball park though Pat,only five months off. That's to be expected though we you just give lip service to what Gordo says.
IF the teachers get a 15% raise, then I would like to see the government give the welfare recipients and pensioners a 15% raise.
Good old "sauce for the goose" proverb.
Why should that section of society always be the lowest recipients of government funds on the totem pole???
Teachers keep climbing up that old totem pole and certain members of society remain grovelling at the bottom.
So let's be fair-just once???
How's that for justice????
I would like to see those forced to live on assistance given a 15% raise (or more) whether the teachers eventually get something or not. They are among the most vulnerable with little or no political pull, and surely there is an onus on society to provide at least a minimal level of support.

And, let's be fair all the time, not just once!
You should learn to read. I said, "forced to live on assistance". Or are you using the fascist big lie technique?
Commie you say Krisb???
Don't go there my friend.
There are many deserving of welfare, and many who collect that should have their feet held to the fire and be penalized for their deceit and lies and essentially "robbing the system."
Those that get away with this practice are allowed to do so by the government in power, and it matters naught which name they go under, as they all appear powerless to halt this "rip-off."
Blame the public for not alerting the powers that be and perhaps becoming a bit more insistent that action be taken against those lying, cheating, deceitful individuals.
The government must feel they actually save money by paying out the welfare rather than hire individuals to attempt to keep the system and those receiving benefits "honest???"
Deceit and dishonesty breeds deceit and dishonesty!!!

The government employees ignore the informants.
Have to keep so many on file to justify their own employment position!!!!
As for the Seniors-they simply have no place to go---and if you believe otherwise, please let them in on your secret???
I, personally never collected a penny welfare in my life-nor did I collect one cent in unemployment. I never relied on the government for my keep-and I do not suppose I ever will.
BUT
I do know seniors who basically scrape by monthly, and if only they would "die off" and stop living so long then that outlay of capital could be salvaged to some degree.
This fact has become a problem.
It is NOT the pensioners applying for welfare-now is it???
Cleanse the welfare system, and get rid the leeches. Generations stay on the system. Is it possible it has become too easy to receive????
Oh well, not to worry!!!
Tell that to those stupid seniors who never saved a nickle for that old age or a rainy day!!!
After all, krisb, are they not also commies collecting off a gov.t run assistance program???
These are all "social" programs-just like the commies believe in.
So what is your answer???
It really is a cruel world!!!
Teachers are whiny morons. As someone who graduated merely a couple years past, I've no sympathy for teachers at all. Their attempt at comparing their services to doctors is asinine.

Almost all of the useful knowledge I left public school with came in spite of the teachers, not as a result of them. There are a few decent ones, but most of them are merely welfare bums acting as daycare supervisors.

The fact that they're staging this illegal strike makes it obvious that they care about their paycheck, not about students' opportunities to learn.
And I suppose your ability to post comments on opinion 250, i.e. your ability to read and write came about by magic without any teachers at all, eh?
Wonderful thread of ad himinem attacks ....

Does anyone here wish to speak to the issues with some sense or do you just like fighting each other?
himinem, huminem, hominem ....

anyone remember how to conjugate in Latin ... *smile*
Yes, Canar, you are correct.
It is all about money!!
They can claim their dedication to the students drives them to these measures, but I do not buy it for one minute.
It is about money-plain and simple.
They chose the profession, but who says they are stuck with it.
If one is unhappy with their ehoice of employment, this free country allows one to "move on."
GO teach in a foreign country if the benefits are more appealing.
But stop telling the pupils it is because you teachers care about the students!!
I just ain't being sucked in by that garbage.
Keep on walkin'but quit talkin'
ammonra, FYI, I was reading encyclopedias before I entered Kindergarten. Way to make invalid assumptions.

owl, sure it's ad hominem, but it's also my experience. Anecdotal evidence surely must account for something.

Anyhow, the courts have sided with the government. Hopefully this stupidity ends soon.
