Willow River, B.C. - Residents  of Willow River have given approval  to  funding a study to determine the costs and issues  of  constructing a sewer and water system.

Electors voted in a referendum yesterday and  the final results show  49  votes in favour, three against.

The approval means each property owner in Willow River will pay $250 dollars  on their  taxes this year to cover the cost of the study.

There has been interest in establishing a sewer and water system in Willow River as a result of concerns over the safety of the drinking water and the failing of sewer systems in the area.

The in depth design study will be an important first step to possibly bringing a community sewer and water system to Willow River.

The results of the referendum will be considered by the Regional District of Fraser Fort George Board. The next step will be to find additional funding partners to make the feasibility study as thorough as possible.
