Right on!
Keep up the good work, even if nothing will ever come of it.
At least the cops can make their slimey lives miserable for a while!
So, is anyone taking bets on how long they'll get IF it makes it to court?
What a bunch of cynics, eh? No faith in our "new " justice system? Bummer.
Right across from an Elementary school. Nice. Real nice.
More drug prohibition waste. I see that wheel-spinning in Vancouver. Our blue slugs take 12 minutes to respond to major crime, and then use up another 5 minutes conducting a "suspect," "address," "firearms registry," and "informant" data search (yes, cops check YOU out if you call them). Donut dunkers don't put their life on the line when they go on shift; they put their lazy butts to the seat.

If you don't want to work for a living, then become a cop. The Justice Institute will make you a blue clown in 65 days, then you get to think of yourself as a "professional."

We need to legalize recreational drugs, scrap tenure for cops, give double time to cops who assault their masters, ban tazers, and make our overpaid and underworked protective surrogates earn their wages for a change.

Truth, I agree, legalize it.

The way our society is dealing with drugs right now it's working. We won't change that unless we change the way we deal with it.

Well said Truth.

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over agian expecting a different result each time it's done, only to be confused why it turned out the same as before.

This is exactly the way of the "War on drugs". It is also, among things, the reason why I know our whole culture is insane. Logic never seems to enter the picture on this issue.

Let's see, I can go home and get falling down drunk every night if I like but if I smoke a joint I'm a criminal? Huh? If I start a company brewing Amber Ale I'm an up standing member of society. But if I buy some grow lights and set up a small grow in the privacy of my own home I'm a criminal deserving of prison? Huh?

Let us all try to use logic in our decision making and not emotionalism based on nothing more than years of hearing the same old tortured propaganda.... please!
Yah, the war on drugs can't work.

Drug-Warriors like to spin social destruction scenarios by directing the ignorant to the Main and Hastings part of Vancouver, which is the hub of the drug culture. It is seedy, but what you are seeing is mostly Crack addicted Marijuana dealers. Daily court records reveal that there are very few strong-armings and assaults in the area. The dealers don't hassle people because that would invite police attention, however delayed. A visible problem is auto break-ins; Vancouver cops don't have the sense to inform City Works of glass residue. However, if the addict had a supply, he wouldn't have to find extraordinary means to pay for same.

No war on drugs = no property crime
Maybe they do need to edit or screen the posts on opinion 250. I strongly resent the terms 'slimey lives' and 'blue slugs'.Are we going the way of net bloggers here? I think this forum survives on civility or not at all. As for the rest of the criticisms, well i doubt very much if any of you detractors work as hard as the RCMP or do as much to keep our society livable. It is easy to sit at your computer and criticize people who work with the worst of us every day, sometimes risking their very lives. It is contemptable to put down people who do a job that you yourself could not or would not do (out of laziness, cowardice or whatever) because you wish to be free to grow dope in your basement.
I know of no other poster more prone to emotionalism and propoganda than kevin 'stupid humans' 1006. Perhaps it is time to come to grips with the fact that the cops are doing their job when they bust grow ops. If you dont like it, change the law, dont cry about the RCMP. And stop putting forth the old lie about mom and pop growing some dope for their own use. It is big business growing dope. Most of the grow ops busted are growing weed destined for sale by organized crime. Perhaps legalizing pot would stop this organized crime link. On the other hand, since traffic into the US would still be illegal i think the oppsite effect more likely: A huge increase in 'legal ' farms supplying a criminal smuggling organization here is beautiful BC.
I used to be a vocal supporter of legalized pot in Canada. I have since thought it through and i find it to be a more complicated issue, worthy of debate.
Something to consider: organized criminal groups smuggle pot into the US where it's traded for cocaine which is smuggled back across the boarder into Canada to be sold on our streets. Wouldn't increased availability of pot here mean more smuggling across the boarder, resulting in more coke on Canadian streets?
Legalize pot? Are you out of your minds? Or wait you must be high! People in this society cant even control alcohol addiction and alcohol related illness so do we really need to create anymore problems by opening up access to other drugs? Think of the tax dollars that will be spent on detoxing people with two legalized drugs out there. And the impaired driving will be to new levels also. If you want legal pot move to Amsterdam!
