Prince George, B.C. - Prince George City Council will receive the terms of reference for the flood risk analysis and solutions study this evening.

The $200 thousand dollar study will be done in two phases. Northwest Hydraulics will be hired to do the technical work.

There are three public hearings this evening, the first to deal with an amendment of the rezoning for the Fraser River Bench Lands Community.

The applicant, Fortwood Homes, would like to make a change to the plan because of geo technical concerns.

The second public hearing would see a portion of property near Knight Crescent and Wapiti Road rezone for single residential. The third public hearing is to divide a lot on Hillcrest to create a second residential lot.

Also on the agenda an update on the applications made for funding for some projects, like the Cameron Street Bridge, and improvements to River Road. The response from the Government would suggest the plan for Queensway doesn’t have as good a chance to be funded.

The Special Needs Advisory Council will present its annual report.

Air quality issues rise once again as the zoning for concrete and asphalt plants will be up for discussion. Council looks at removing asphalt and concrete plants from certain zoning as a permitted use, and give them spot zoning.

First it was the Spirit Bears…now its eagles…. There will be a proposal before City Hall to launch a public art program/ fundraiser using eagles as was done with the painted bears in the city.

Spirit bears and now its eagles. What next? How about some clowns on the deck at city hall and around town to remind us this november who not to vote for.

"Council looks at removing asphalt and concrete plants from certain zoning as a permitted use, and give them spot zoning." Sounds like more cash at election time. The cup id half full.

Cheers
There are lots of eagles around the local slaughter house south of town. The eagles are easy to spot because they are bigger than the ravens and crows.
