P.G. To Apply For Beetle Harvest Damage to Roads

Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George is going after more than half of the dollars being made available by the province for rehabilitation of roads damaged by the increase in logging truck activity.

Here, in the order of priority, is the list being  put forth by staff, and the cost estimates:

The total request is for $5.6 million dollars, the total amount available is $10 million .

Development services Bob Radloff says the  City is still waiting for the criteria for  the grants.  "We are encouraged to  meet the criteria to the extent possible to maximize return from that program."  Radloff also says there is also an understanding that  applications should be  prepared  quickly.

Radloff says  City staff are still waiting for the application forms, and expect the  forms to be delivered to the City soon.

Some of these roads were screwed well before the pine beetle. If the city would have done proper maintenance in the past there wouldn't be the problem we see today.
