A Heartfelt Thank You

By Ben Meisner

I want to start off by thanking each and every one of you who took the time to pass along your feelings on the death of our dog Dancer.

You have no idea just how your comments made Elaine and I feel.  We are so blessed to have brushed by all of you during my life time. You can have all the money, the power that you need but in the end it is the comfort of people around you at a time of need that is all that really matters.

There may be all sorts of complaints , many of them valid, that we have the worst air, the worst pot holes, too much snow , and too much crime, but by God let me say this to you , we have the best people you can ever hope to meet in this country living and standing beside you.

Prince George is our home and the fact was never driven home more than the outpouring of support we have received over these past few days.

I wrote the item about Dancer hoping that people would understand and would cut me some slack if I wasn’t doing my job for a few days , what I got instead was an outpouring of support like I have never had.

I bow before you all today, thank you ever so much.

Meisner

We may all have our own political views and diverse opinions...however one thing PG does have and that is compassion. Your sorrow is our sorrow..
Hi Ben and Elaine,

I came across this morning and thought how well it fits to what you have said:

"What wealth is it to have such friends that we cannot think of them without elevation." --Henry David Thoreau

It works both ways!

Elaine and Ben....Just came across this poem.
A DOG'S BEST FRIEND

O Lord don't let me once forget
How I love my trusty pet.
Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard.
Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa's muddy.
Don't allow my pooch to munch
postal carriers for lunch.
Shield my neighbor's cat from view.
Guide my steps around the doo.
Train me not to curse and scowl
when it's puppy's night to howl.
Grant I shan't awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear.
Give me patience without end.
Help me be "A DOGS BEST FRIEND"

Ben I can only hope this same kind of sympathy goes out to Lynn Reinhart and family in Vanderhoof. Imagine having to stand by as they take all your animals for slaughter.Especially the llama who was such a pet. Not a one of these animals tested positive for bovine TB. So sad!

Ben and Elaine Those who have lost a pet - a member of the family understand.

I trust that many out there have read this poem, but I pass it along to you and yours. Get the kleenex.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.

There is always food and water, and warm Spring weather. Those old and frail animals are young again. Those who have been maimed are made whole again.

They play all day with each other. But there is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one suddenly runs from the group.

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

You are most welcome....Ben & Elaine. Hopefully, we are all here to help those during their time of need. Are you shopping for a puppy?
