The Cariboo Cougars are getting set to head to Alberta next weekend for the Pacific qualifier for the Telus Cup, national midget hockey championship. In order to make it there, they need the public's assistance. After the Cougars won the BC major midget title in Kelowna last weekend they were informed they would have to pay their own way to the Pacific qualifier in Alberta. The Cougars will play in Calgary next weekend, and are looking for any help you or your company may be able to give. If you are interested in helping out give Todd a call at 565-5156.

The sport of the idol rich. Go for it.

Cheers
What Brodsky not paying?
He is he benefactor isnt he?
Or do we just have a bunch of teams
who have no imagination and/or like the name cougars?
These guys worship and emulate the PG Cougars, hence why they are permitted to wear the same colors, namesake etc. It is only fitting that Mr. Brodsky assist them in striving to reach their goal.
I have to agree with racer and inquisitor..besides these boys may very well be part of the crop from which the WHL has to pick from...a bunch of young guys who actually play their hearts out! Nice to see eh, Mr. Brodsky?
To my knowledge this is a player paid league all year long... not sure what has changed with winning, the players and thier parents knew what they were getting into at the start of the year..... times are tough all over... it's a regional team, and over 2500 forestry layoffs in the region since last fall might mean that if the players and their parents can't afford the trip... not sure the rest of us should be expected to foot the bill.....

best of luck but I know I don't have any extra to give to a hockey team
Support comes in many forms...

Aside from the initial sponsorship or payment from the WHL and their teams to the BC Major Midget League, there is no obligation for further assistance. However the Prince George Cougars and their ownership throughout this season and others have assisted the Cariboo Cougars with the use of their bus, practice uniforms and supplies when needed and available.
Throughout the league WHL teams have stepped forward in varying levels of support over and above the financial agreement between BCAHA and the WHL - the Cougars have been very good to our team and we are grateful for all of the assistance provided by all of our community groups and individuals.
We appreciate your support as well - even if it is coming out and cheering these boys on next season or in the event we are successful in trying to host these games this weekend here in Prince George.

We appreciate the time you all have taken in responding to this article.

Go Cougars!
