Very sad to hear, I really thought she was going to make it.

My condolences to her family, it must be especially difficult for them being overseas.
My brother saw this accident happen, I am very sorry for the family, life is very fragile and we do not know Gods plan for us, To be absent from the body is to be present with God
My deepest empathy to this young ladies family and friends!!

GOD BLESS!!
Tragedies are waiting to happen when people do not use cross walks.
lmorg, we all make mistakes and placing blame in a situation like this is very inappropriate. It was no ones fault, accidents happen and its very unfortunate and extremely sad.

I'm sorry to hear this news, and I pray for every one involved to find peace.
ShannanigansB if you wish to stick your head in the sand then do so...what I have posted is a fact of life..reality.
Now is not the time to disrespect the victim.
lmorg, your compassion and sympathy are overwhelming. Your assignment of blame is very helpful to those who are suffering a loss right now. Dick.
Never said I didn't have sympathy or disrespect for the victim, the driver or anybody..it was a terrible thing that happened...but it only underlines the fact that people must be more aware of where they are walking in relation to crosswalks etc...naturally motorists must be cognizant of pedestrians but if they dart out in front of you or from a spot where they shouldn't be then who is at fault? I saw the accident scene.
Check youtube...Korea is well known for bad traffic and pedestrians are always at risk...
Not knowing where exactly the student hails from in Korea is no excuse either for bad judgement..tragic yes.
OH and reasonableman...you can bet that icbc, and the police are busy now figuring out who is at fault...accident or not. Dick.
Go see the wizard, tell him you need a heart. Might as well get a brain too, while you're there.
Why, there didnt seem to be this tone of ohhh my on the previous story prior to this young woman passing away. I don't detect any amount of disrepect towards the victim but I do see a moronic response on the part of reasonableman.
One of the news articles on the accident said no charges were being laid.

lmorg, I am sure you would be singing a different tune if one of the people involved was a family member of your own. And don't say your family members don't make mistakes, because they do, we all do, and this could have happened to any of us.
Looks like lmorg called for backup.
what has happened to the victim has happened ...fault or no fault ???of her own ..my heart goes out to the family for there loss of life...my prayers go out to the driver fault or no fault ?? as her suffering has ended his pain has just begone.. may god bless his misery and offer him a hand to cope..kind of makes you want to squeeze your family when you get home each day
Hmm from shannanigan's blog it appears that since no charges are being laid then the fault was not with the driver. He has been declared non culpable civilly and under the motor vehicle act.
No doubt the driver is feeling terrible about the incident...any reasonable person would, and the girl's family and friends are no doubt devastated.

Rman can call it what he wants, but the point has been made - be careful and mindful with today's traffic patterns and laws which include pedestrians.

Ah Shannigan, I may be this or I may be that but the fact is real life is not fair nor is it necessarily pretty. People do foolish things every day and they pay for it.

A man trying to jaywalk across Calgary's Blackfoot Trail was struck and killed by a pickup truck on the busy roadway Tuesday afternoon.

An off-duty paramedic tried to treat the pedestrian, believed to be in his 40s, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, said Calgary Emergency Medical Services.

The truck driver was not injured, said police.

The pedestrian was jaywalking from east to west, near the southbound exit ramp to Glenmore Trail SE, and had already crossed the northbound lanes when the southbound truck struck him.

Southbound traffic was closed for several hours for the police investigation, but the road reopened in time for the evening rush hour.
