Prince George, B.C. – The RCMP in Chilliwack say they are recommending charges be laid in connection with a fatal crash on Highway 97 in December.

That crash claimed the life of Shelley Zenzen, a Director on the Board for the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.  It is because of her death that a by-election is being held in Electoral area “F” Saturday.

Constable Anne Dunlop says the final reports are in and charges of dangerous driving causing death have been recommended be laid against the driver of a semi tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer’s load became unstable and fell off near Boston Bar, hitting Zenzen’s car and a second vehicle.  Those in the second vehicle escaped serious injury.

The name of the driver of the semi has not yet been released. He will make his first appearance in a Chilliwack Court  later this month.

Dangerous driving causing death.
How can that be when the load became unstable and fell off.
Shouldn't it be criminal negligence causing death?
Just seems odd to me.
Unless the driver was driving dangerously and thats why the load fell off.
Should be made a little more clear when it is reported in the media so we can understand what really happened.
I heard that he was across the centerline and swerved to come back. Thats when the load came off.
I always assumed I was travelling Highway #1 whenever I drove thru Boson Bar (unless Kelowna has the #1 now)
Sounds like R v. Beatty. That conviction was overturned by the high court. You need to prove intent for Dangerous Driving.
I have to agree with reasonableman. I believe a charge of Drive without due care under the motor vehicle act would be more applicable.
..and Insecure Load.
I was at Boston Bar when it happened - There had been a dump of snow - the highway was not plowed and there were a lot of folks that were not driving appropriately for the condiions - passing in low visiblity with no visible lanes, etc.... that truck was likely one of them
