Prince George, B.C. - There will be four public hearings at Prince George City Council this evening. The first is to rezone a .4 hectare piece of land on Austin Road West for the development of two 8 unit seniors apartment buildings.
The second is to rezone just under one hectare of land off North Nechako Road at Brink Place, to allow for a cluster development of 26 unit strata development.
The third and fourth public hearings have to do with requests to rezone to allow for the subdivision of lots on Carney Street and on Quinn Street.
Also on the agenda this evening, a presentation from the President of the Nexterra Energy Corporation. Nexterra wants the City to consider using its biomass gasification system for energy. The system is already in use in a Tolko plywood plant and has saved the company $1.5 million in natural gas costs.
Council will be asked to make changes that will create a single round table on air quality issues, combining the work of the various committees that have been working on air quality issues.
Council will also be asked to provide $17 thousand dollars from contingency funding for the farmers Market to allow it to stay at the Wilson Square location this year. The money would be used for site clean up, security, portable washrooms and water access.
Council will also take a look at the preliminary neighbourhood plan for the prince George Golf and Curling Club lands ( see Three Plans for PGGCC Lands To Be presented to Council) as well as get an update on the community energy system (see Buying Hot Water From Industry Up for Discussion).
