Prince George, B.C. – The Regional District of Fraser Fort George has a new Director.
Kevin Dunphy has been sworn in as the Director for Electoral Area F. He won the recent by-election that was called because of the tragic death of Director Shelley Zenzen in December.
Dunphy has never been involved in politics before, so the first question is why would he choose to get involved now? “Well, I felt that someone had to stand up and replace Shelly in our area, basically a lot of the people chose me and encouraged me to run and I followed through with it.”.
Dunphy says he doesn’t have anything special in mind right now when it comes to projects, “There’s a lot of different projects that have been on hold since Shelly died so we’ll try to pick up and complete some of those.”
Dunphy says projects that haven’t been addressed yet that he would like to see looked at include, emergency planning including designation of escape routes.
Kevin has a few months to see if he wants to take a shot at the job when the municipal elections are held in November, and he says he thinks he will take a shot at it again “It’s only 7 months away, I think that’s just enough time to get some experience in.”
Dunphy will take part in his first public Regional District Board meeting this Thursday.
