PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - The annual Spring Clean Up kick off is set for tomorrow, Sunday, April 20th from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Never mind the weather,  Sean LeBrun of Waste Management for the City says  while  it may be unseasonablly cold, "The people of Prince George are tough."

LeBrun says  about 4,000 "Pitch -In" bags have been distributed, and he is hopeful residents will make good use of them.

Last year, the Clean up Campaign, consisting of over 64 registered groups and 4700 volunteers,resulted in Prince George residents picking up over 17,000 kgs of garbage from city streets,parks and trails.

Activities include picking up litter from neighbourhood parks, schoolyards, boulevards, and along trails and streets.

Everyone is invited to participate, even if you haven’t registered, you can still take part.

LeBrun says next year, he  might  push the  Clean Up Campaign  one  week later "That would  help to  get  us out of this iffy weather bubble" says LeBrun.

I think the annual spring clean up is great. BC corrections should have those guys from the jail cleaning up the city YEAR ROUND!!! Instead they are probably watching TV, playing pool lounging about. They should be doing something to give back to society...I don't see them out cleaning the garbage that is scattered all over this city. my husband just got back from Fredericton NB and he said it is actally quite shocking the amount of garbage in PG compared to Fredericton...Why? I have no idea...
No money in Fred... The only people working work for the government, and they don't polute.

I pick up between 40 to 60 cents worth of "garbage" everyday. I'm disappointed when I don't find at least 20 cents worth!
I would like to see the city prohibit the posting of notices,garage sale signs etc. on power and lite poles. It is real ugly. Makes the city look like east side Chicago. Just look at the decorative poles in the downtown,there a mess.
I agree that we should clean up the City but I think we should also clean up City Hall. Firstly with the next election to clean out the Mayor and some councillors, and then a new administration to clean up City staff, etc;
Maybe elect a retired janitor, someone who is good with percentages, one who doesn't have the travel bug, someone who ain't indecisive all the time and maybe someone when it comes to existing business licences will not rock the boat and make it expensive fer the city by trying to disallow it. And this time around try not to let the Chamber of Commerce hijack the citizens forum by not letting us ask the potential candidates specific questions. Not their names in hat and not questions in a hat. Let them rant. The electors too.
Picked up 45 cents worth this morning.
There is a bylaw against the signs being posted on the lamp posts. You have to contact bylaw enforcement and make them start an investigation.
Remove signs off poles and you remove another democratic freedom. Other municipalities actually have someone remove them periodically. We pay them so much for so little in return.
