Ft St James, B.C.- The Nak’azdli Band council says its prepared to litigate with the crown to prove title to the Shus Nadloh and this would delay the Terrane Metals (Mt Milligan Mine)

The Nak’azdli say they don’t want to debate with our neighbors the McLeod Lake band over the title to the area.

Nak’azdli accuses Terrane Metals of trying to create internal strife between the two bands who both seek right to the title of the mines location.

The Nak’azdli say they are not opposed to sustainable development that incorporates our environmental, social and economic views.

On April 10th, Chief Alec Chingee issued a statement saying the negotiations between the McLeod Band and Terrane Metals have been so far so good.

He said that his band found Terrane Metals to be an extremely responsible corporate citizen.

Quite a bold statement from a band that backed out of the environmental assesment process from the begining.
"...says its prepared to litigate with the crown to prove title to the Shus Nadloh and this would delay the Terrance Metals (Mt Milligan Mine)..."

Another ten years and millions of dollars of taxpayers' money later (some lawyers charge $800 dollars per hour) - who cares?

After that more lawsuits - between individual bands.

It's a good thing nobody needs jobs and the government doesn't need the taxes either!

Can Terrance Metals be persuaded to invest in another more business friendly country?

What is a Shus Nadloh?
Shus Nadloh is Mt Milligan itsef. The proposed mine is actually about 10-15km away from Mt Milligan or Shus Nadloh. Its a landmark in that area so natuarally the the deposit is named after the mountain.
Shus Nadloh is a recently created ancient name for the area in question.
It means quite literally "gold mine baby"
It looks like greed will keep this mine on the back burner for a while yet. The price of the currently precious minerals will eventually drop, making this and other locations non viable.
metalman.
I thought it was Tarrane not Terrance as it is written throughout the entire article. Metalman...I believe you have the nail on the head. Sweet!
The company is called 'Terrane'

Four levels of government hoops to jump through. The Feds, Provinces, Regional Districts and Indian Bands. Let me see, all Municipal governments, a Provincial government, and 51 First Nation governments. Good place for some one who wants to invest. Oh yeah, don't forget our new carbon (fuel) tax. Investing here in BC will be such sweet sorrow.
"The Nak’azdli say they don’t want to debate with our neighbors the McLeod Lake band over the title to the area." Oh this is new first everyone wanted title to the land thus the land claims process... and now they don't want it???
Isn,t this the same band that stopped the pipeline to Kitimat so they could do an environmental assessment? On someone else's dime. If the natives can't sort out whose land boundaries are where we are in a hopeless situation trying to settle land claims.
Gee. I hope these bands pay for their own infighting. I'm kinda tired of paying.
Now I admit I am not fully versed on this issue. It seems to me that it is a smart move I think. It will keep title within the bands thereby protecting them.
If I am way off base someone please educate me.
