Hello Ben;
I am suprised that you haven't done the math on gas prices.
Lets use $115 dollars as a the cost of crude oil and $1.289 a liter as the cost at the pumps, now we should figure out what we pay per barrel.
lets just use 4.5 liters per gallon and 35 gallons to a barrel our cost comes out to $203 dollars a barrel.
The local refinery produces approximately 8500 barrels of gas and diesel per day on a yearly average. There is also gas and diesel trucked into Prince George as the refinery cannot supply the region but it is safe to assume close to at least 50 percent is sold in or near Prince George. Now give the industry the benifit that it costs $30 a barrel to produce and transport. the profit fpr the industry and government from the businesses and residents of Prince George is approx 84 million dollars
Now it is not just the oil industry ripping us off in this scam as you can work out for your self when gas was 49.9 cents a liter the feds got 3.2 cents gst per liter they now get 7.2 cents per liter.for every liter the refinery makes all one and quarter million liters per day = approx $50,000 per day if my math is right.. Why would the government take on their bedmates and ruin the scam

With a cap in place this would give the Government some wiggle room to pressure the oil companies to reduce prices.
As long as the Government continues to make huge profits by the higher prices, they are complicate in this scam.
Its time Harper got involved is this fiasco.
