Prince George, B.C. - Telus is expected to announce today that it is expanding its call center in the city which will see an additional 70 to 75 jobs added.

According to information obtained by Opinion250, the jobs in question are deemed “good paying”.

Sources say the expansion  has come about  as a result of the efficient operation of the present facility.

Telus GM Shawn Greffard, along with MLA Shirley Bond and City Council and reps will be on hand for the announcement.

So what exactly is a "good paying" job?
I am sure Telus knows exactly how much it will pay,so why don't they just say it?
A dollar above minimum wage perhaps?
Shirley Bond would be very good at this...she should consider it.
How is your campaign coming Andyfreeze? You seem to have all the answers...put your money where your mouth is!
Great!! Does this mean more annoying phone calls at 6:00 PM?
Calgary is even more activist, that city council is crawling with socialist that love to spend other peoples money. All the good people are too busy, as a result the only ones running for city council in Calgary are the green and jealous out for revenge. As a result Calgary has succeeded in rapidly growing their homeless population.

To make sure the homeless population is not reduced Calgary city council made a rule that any business working for the city has to pay their workers a "living wage". Since it is other peoples money to waste that wage was set at $13.50/hr.

No one asked why a living wage could not be paid in cabbage and turnips. The wage would live longer that way.

Andyfreeze, would this be good news in your opinion if a non-Liberal MLA were to make the announcement?

I am surprised you didn't mention the *Campbell gang* again.

Opion1, great post about the campaigning!
I don't know Andy, but I'd take him as Mayor or a City Councillor right about now! What the hell do we have to lose? You have my vote Andy.
These jobs are fine for what they are diplomat, and it doesn't matter which government is in power.
(hey,I can't blame Gordo for everything!)
They all pat themselves on the back and tell us about all the wonderful jobs that have suddenly appeared out of nowhere!
The problem is,far too many of them are in fact minimum wage jobs, but that rarely gets mentioned.
And there is nothing wrong with minimum wage jobs either, they are all part of the big picture.
Unfortunately, they won't sustain a strong economy for very long if that's all there is.
But try telling the guy with a wife and three kids who just lost his job, that this is what he will now be doing for living and see what he says!
And thank's Monty, but I decline the nomination...(believe it or not,I have actually been asked)I am just not very good at kissing political asses and playing follow the leader!
I wouldn't last a week!
:-)

Andy, if you get the Mayor's job you don't have to kiss any backsides! Councilors (my spelling checker insists on spelling councilor with one *l*) don't have to do it either, but unfortunately some do it just to be on the safe side - if one can call a back side the *safe* side!

If you promise not to blame Gordon for everything (you are giving him more credit than he deserves as is) I'd vote for you too! Run for Mayor, please!
Thanks diplomat but not my thing anymore!
I have often thought about provincial politics over the years, but you are supposed to have a political affliation, and I don't, I hate them all equally!
Much more fun to harass them, just to keep them all on their toes and looking over their shoulders!
And besides,I like retirement too much to screw it up with a job like that!
Nasty!
Cheers!
Good news for sure. Telus could have made these spots available elsewhere and they didn't. The bottom line is that there will be 75 NEW jobs in PG because of this expansion.

The woes in the forestry industry are completely irrelevant to this particular announcement.

NMG, thank you for a sane comment!
