We now have less than a year before the next election – if Premier Campbell sticks to the legal agenda – but will he? Can he afford to? Might he not take a sudden plunge this June or perhaps September? Why would he?

There are mighty forces readying themselves to fight the Campbell dictatorship on the one issue where he’s most vulnerable – the environment. It’s true that the Premier has received brownie points for his rhetoric if not action on global warming but he’s  miscalculating in thinking that will act as a smokescreen for his environmental inadequacies. In fact the opposite us happening differences. Before I go further I must declare my interest – I am employed by the Save our Rivers Society bound to stop private power interests from destroying BC Hydro and God only knows how many rivers and streams in the bargain.

What Campbell the Ink fish can’t hide is his government’s appalling record on Atlantic salmon fish cages, destruction of the ALR, unbelievable insincerity with environmental concerns over highway building and his policy of strangling BC Hydro while destroying hundreds of rivers and streams.

What Campbell the dictator accomplishes by a snap election is moving before the environmental forces have their act together.

My sense of it is that it’s too late. The election itself would galvanize the environmentalists.

You can be sure of this, though – an early election has certainly given Campbell & Co pause for thought.

I think that the Campbell government has pulled all stops to push green energy no matter the cost to the environment or the taxpayer. Check out DOE's wind energy initiative-an unwise tilt towards windmills on the web. I wish you the best of luck in your fight to save our rivers!
rafe, you sound like someone who spouts negative but has no solution to put forward. Let us all work together instead of just condemming what others say because of political interests. The need to redesign new and existing communities to cut some of the use of vehicles or new sources of power is a good thing. If we do nothing but complain about others, we will be no further ahead in ten years. But we should at least try.
Screech, why is it a problem for someone to "spout negative" and not have any solutions? Is there a law saying...Sorry no negative spouting if you have no solutions. People like you make me laugh. Where are your solutions, why post here if you have none? Get the point?
Aren't your liberal party members dues up for renewal?
Our current liberal government is nothing but a joke, look at how they are raping taxpayers and allowing log exports. Canfor and Westfraser buying up sawmills in the USA, shutting them down in BC, shipping raw logs to their USA mills all to escape the tariffs on finished lumber products.
They are criminals and should be treated as such.
Hey Rafe and your kind thanks for biofuels and starvation around the world.
lostfaith read read read, see two solutions
Expressions like *Campbell the dictator, Campbell the Ink fish, destroying hundreds of rivers and streams* sound somewhat hysterical to me.

They take away from the credibility of the rest of Rafe's message, in my opinion. And, I might add, Rafe does have many valid concerns!

Dictators were people like Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Franco and so forth. There the people had no way of removing them.

Here, in our democracy, we have a perfectly legal and effective tool to remove politicians who act illegally, insanely, dictatorially, or a combination thereof: it's called recall.

How about Rafe on behalf of the Save our Rivers Society just giving us details, objections and possible positive solutions based on straight forward science, leaving out the tiresome political agenda?
Recall, now thats funny
Let him without sin to be the first to throw the stone.
Did Gordon really do all that. I have not seem him in my neck of the woods throwing garbage in the river.
Your not going to start with the religious stuff are you screech. Theres no place for it when it comes to politics.
in GOD we trust
LMAO, That will get you far, good luck with that. Please leave your donation in the pot.
In GOD we trust, but just in case he don't look after us, we'll have a cuppla hunnert atom bombs, lots of soldiers and airplanes.
