Teachers are off the job again today, and there is no telling when their job action will end.

Over the weekend, the employer, the BC Public School Employers Association, issued an open letter to all School Boards and all School Board employees,.

In the letter, the Chair of the Board of Directors, Ron Christensen,  wrote:

"I must formally request that you return to work on Monday October 17th, 2005.  Our doors ae open to employes who wish to return to work....Our students are suffering and further escalation of this dispute is not in the interests of the parties or society at large."

Here at home, Chair of School District 57, Bill Christie, says the District would need at least 24 hours notice of any return to work, in order to arrange for bussing, and to ensure parents  could be notified,  There has been no indication from the teachers that they will be returning to the classroom anytime soon.

Meantime, this afternoon, another rally is planned.  This one is to take place outside MLA Pat Bell's office on Central at 5th.  This one is set to start at 5 p.m. and is being sponsored by the Prince George and District Labour Council

So much for restraint!
That's it BC boy keep endorsing the shake down. The funny thing is that neither side is in the right here. You and your teacher buddies need to go back to work.
Rock
Granted I lost my temper. I tend to do that when people slander members of my family. I support them wholeheartedly in their struggle and soon I will be proudly joining them on the picket lines.
Bc boy, good luck with your cause, but IMO I think you are wrong. You are entitled to do what you want but IMO the public will not stand for this much longer.I know of one picket line incident that happened on friday and I worry that we might see something like what happened in Alberta on the weekend.

Maybe it's not so much the teachers people are against as it is the "system". We have too many rules that are different, rules that are dependent on which "group" or "organization" or "minority" any one person belongs to. When that "group" acts out, the rest of the country is forced to live with the repercussions of their actions. Unhappy people with nothing to do will always find something to complain about. We just happen to have a country full of unhappy people with nothing better to do.
The teachers have their point, the Government has their point, the students and parents have their point ...fairness and maturity should prevail, but will it?? And when the dust settles, are my children going to get a better education because of it???
Two comments on this item have now been deleted. We have advised that name calling and sand box bullying won't be tolerated. We have asked you all to exercise some self restraint, apparently some did not get the message.
Rock, you state "I worry we might see something like what happened in Alberta on the weekend" Are you worried that managers or politicians are going to be running union members off of the road? I don't worry about that because I think we are above that kind of action by either side in this dipute. At least I hope we are.
